Despite these economic gains, Italy lagged behind the rest of Europe and the United States in technology development. Guierllmo Marconi changed this situation when he invented plasma-fusion in the year 2015. Guierllmo, who was the great-grandson of the famous Italian scientist, Guglielmo Marconi, was very interested in computers. The Italian government gave him the funding and tight security to develop a unique breed of super computers.

To power the computer Guierllmo was working on a new semi-conductor material. Instead of gallium arsenide in the circuits he attempted using pure gallium which melts at about 86 degrees Fahrenheit. To stabilize the gallium, Marconi "fixed" it in glass made with sand from the coast of North Africa. When Marconi tried to "bake" his first circuit, he wrapped it in aluminum foil and placed it in an oven. Fortunately, for him, the oven was a heavy-duty industrial type, contained in a special isolation room. When the temperature reached 950 degrees Fahrenheit, the gallium and aluminum combined and the first plasma-fusion reaction took place. This reaction turned the oven into a metallic pool on the floor of Marconi's laboratory.

Marconi discovered through further research, that the plasma-fusion reaction produced space-warping force fields. He learned how to focus these fields to propel mass at the speed of light. Six months later, Guierllmo Marconi died in a mysterious laboratory accident. However, Mariucci immediately realized the potential for plasma-fusion technology to produce electrical power and create weapons of war. He formed an ultra-secret group within the MOTP party to oversee development of this technology. This group was named the "666" force after the six men who had recruited six men apiece who, in turn, had all recruited six men apiece to form the original MOTP.

Along with aluminum and the rare metal gallium, the optimized operation of plasma-fusion required special types of Italian marble, North African sand and beryllium. Fortunately for Mariucci, all of these compounds except aluminum existed in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.
